WOODLAND / YOLO COUNTY — October 26, 2026. Drivers using Interstate 5 across the Yolo Bypass face a new overnight closure schedule that could affect trips from the Woodland area toward Sacramento International Airport. Caltrans District 3 announced that southbound I-5 is scheduled to close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly October 25–30 while crews replace bridge joints.
Under the revised plan, the contractor will switch between directions rather than close both directions at once. Northbound closures are scheduled overnight November 1–6; Caltrans also lists further southbound overnight work November 4–20. These are separate phases, and all dates could change because of weather or construction needs.
Important distinction for airport passengers and commercial drivers
Caltrans says the southbound phase is more likely to affect motorists traveling toward Sacramento International Airport. Travelers should budget additional time and confirm the current route before departure. County Road 22 is designated for local traffic only. Commercial trucking is encouraged to use State Route 113 and Interstate 80 rather than the local detour.
The temporary work-zone speed limit is 55 mph. Check Caltrans QuickMap and follow posted signs for the actual nightly configuration. Official source: Caltrans District 3 updated notice, October 22, 2026. Additional local coverage: Woodland News.
